Angelique Poisson, LMFT, ATR

I'm an artist and art therapist who helps others harness their intuition and create a life they love.

When not creating, or working... or creating, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, hiking, practicing yoga, and escaping back to the snow to ski. Three things that I love are cooking, Star Trek, and ice cream.

Yeah, that's some self-disclosure.

Credentials

I'll cut to the chase. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and registered art therapist with the Art Therapy Credentialing Board. Additionally, I have been comprehensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy by Behavior Tech, A Linehan Institute Training Company.

Mindfulness is foundational to my work as I strive to foster resilience and set my clients up for continued success beyond our work together.

I have developed and implemented thriving art therapy programs for treatment centers in Minnesota and California including Hazelden Betty Ford Center for Youth and Families, and presented on the benefits of art therapy to foster engagement in substance abuse treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

In Los Angeles, I continue to provide trainings and workshops on mindfulness, the efficacy of art therapy, and fostering a therapeutic creative space. I am an active professional member of CAMFT, AATA, and SoCalATA, and currently serve as President on the Board of the Southern California Art Therapy Association.

Soul Purpose

I am passionate about helping others heal and thrive. To thrive is to awaken the soul—to flourish, grow, succeed, and transform. All these things require deep roots. They require understanding of what fuels us and intimate knowledge of our authentic selves.

I was born into a multi-ethnic family of artists, and have always been driven to explore identity and life through art. I believe creating is a natural and powerful process that communicates in ways daily rhetoric cannot.

The act of creating is a tangible method that uncovers insight and can empower you to thrive in all areas of life. While at times it may be hard to find, we all have a creative voice. I am here to help you find it—to help you thrive.

In addition to my private practice, I am a member of the Creative Therapies Center in Santa Monica where we also have drama therapists, dance and movement therapists, and a music therapist. I am so excited about the collaborations that will take place here.
